Well yesterday saw the start of the new football season in both Scotland and England for the top divisions. I spent the first day of the season at Easter Road not watching my beloved Bhoys but Hibs versus St Mirren. Why? Well back in July when I was on holiday my Uncle died suddenly. I was unable to get back for the funeral and I still feel as though I haven't mourned him properly. Before he lost his sight a few years ago he was a live long Hibs fan. He had a seat in the Famous Five stand.
As a tribute to him I went to Hibs first game of the season with my dad. My mum was suppose to come as well but she felt unable to go - she still can't believe her brother has gone. My dad enjoyed it. Although he is not a great football fan he enjoys going to the odd game.
It was funny being at game where I wasn't bothered what team won. As I was at the Hibs end I was shouting for Hibs but my heart wasn't in it. This was not Celtic Park it was a completely different atmosphere.
I have often thought that I might change my allegiance to a more local team. I live in Edinburgh surely I should support Hibs or Hearts. It would be cheaper and less travelling, but when I was at the game yesterday it didn't feel the same. My heart still belongs to the East End of Glasgow.
Despite giving up my season ticket this year for various reasons - currently not working being one of them. I'll follow the bhoys through thick and thin. My head tells me that they have not got a chance against Arsenal but heart is willing them to show that Scottish football isn't as bad as some commentors make it out to be. So come on the Bhoys!
